Brooklyn | Philadelphia | PEX vs Playloop

East coast fam, I’m super excited to return home, connect with friends, share music, and talk about our journey since Playloop established a new community in Los Angeles back in early 2009. Eric Jag will also be joining me on this mini tour of the North East. He is instrumental in helping PEX/Playloop host amazing events and parties in LA. EJag aka Eric Jag delivers a next level performance by performing with congas/drums and DJing at the same time!

We kick things off at the legendary Silk City Lounge on Friday, March 8th with residents Lee Mayjahs? & DJ Everyday. Silk City is where my (JP’s) musical journey in Philadelphia began. Back in 1996, Dozia Blakey and King Britt booked me to DJ at their legendary Back2Basics party. This was a life changing experience performing for the who’s who of the Philadelphia music scene. Without their guidance, help and inspiration Playloop might not exist today.

Love Street Festival 2013

L.A. friends and family, I’m DJing / performing at the LOVE STREET FESTIVAL on New Years Day (January 1st) at 6pm. It does feel kinda surreal that I get to create art and music in Laurel Canyon where many music legends lived or often visited (Beatles, Doors, Led Zeppelin, Zappa and more).

I grew up enjoying and studying several of these acts, and collected most of their records. Jim Morrison kinda predicted the future of music (video link). He does a pretty good job of explaining how DJs and electronic musicians perform (minus the tape part since we have gone digital). I’m looking forward to sharing some music with you as we set the tone for 2013 :)
